It was not a full scale war rather a skirmish. Had it been a full scale war, air forces of both countries would have taken part, however, they were not there, mind you both countries possess tens of soviet (old) or russian (modern) made war planes.

P. S. Poor Africa, shooting and shooting BTW each damn bullet costs one US$. Hence, why they don't utilize such money which they are wasting to alleviate their people from poverty.
