Kudos to Addis Ababa Science and Technology University for organizing the fair for its graduates.

ኢትዬዽያ ውስጥ የምንፈልገው አንድ ሰው ሁሉን ነገር የሚያውቅ ነው። ስለዚህ በጣም ማወዳደር እንውዳለን ይህ የትም አያደርስንም በሚሊዬኖች ተማሪዎች ስራ ሳያገኙ ይቀራሉ ።

አንድ ምሳሌ ልስጥ ። አንድ መኪና የሚገጣጥም ድርጅትን እንውስድ ። አንድ የመኪና ቴክኒሻን ስለመኪና በጣም የሚያውቅ ስው መቅጠር ይችላል። ይህ ችግሩ ይህ ስው የተሻለ ዶሞዝ ካገኘ ስራውን ጥሎ ይሄዳል ካምፓኒውም ሊዘጋ ይችላል።

ግን ይህ ካምፓኒ መቶ ተማሪዎችን ቢቀጥርና አንዱን ተማሪ ጎማ ብቻ እንዲቀየር ትምህርት ስጥቶት ጎማ ቀያሪ ያረገዋል ሌላውን ደግሞ በር ገጣሚ እንዲህ እንዲህ እያለ ስራውን በክፍፍል ተስርቶ አንድ መኪና ሊውጣ ይችላል ስራቸው ሲደመር ። ለምሳሌ ጎማ ገጣሚው ስራ ቢለቅ ሌላ ሰው በፍጥነት ማስተማርና መተካት ይቻላል።

ሁለተኛው ነገር ደግሞ ለሶስት ወር እነዚህ ውጣቶች ያለምንም ክፍያ ልምድ መስጠት ነው በፋብሪካው በነፃ እያገለገሉ ። ከሶስት ወር በኋላ ካምፓኒው አይቶ ሊቀጥራቸው ይችላል። እንጂ እንዴት ነው በአንድ ወረቅት ብቻ የተማሪውን ችሎታ ማየት የሚቻለው ። ይሂዱ ካምፓኒ ውስጥ ልምድ ይቅስሙ ከዚያ ደግሞ እድላቸውን ያያሉ ማለት ነው።

ሶስተኛው ነገር ደግሞ ይህንን የስራ ልምድ ማካበት ተማሪው ትምህርቱን ሳይጨርስም ሊሆን ስለሚችል የተማሪው ግዜ አይባክንበትም። ካምፓኒው የአቶቢስና የምሳ እየከፈለ ተማሪውን ማስለጠን ይችላል።

ግን ይህ ካምፓኒ መቶ ተማሪዎችን ቢቀጥርና አንዱን ተማሪ ጎማ ብቻ እንዲቀየር ትምህርት ስጥቶት ጎማ ቀያሪ ያረገዋል ሌላውን ደግሞ በር ገጣሚ እንዲህ እንዲህ እያለ ስራውን በክፍፍል ተስርቶ አንድ መኪና ሊውጣ ይችላል ስራቸው ሲደመር ። ለምሳሌ ጎማ ገጣሚው ስራ ቢለቅ ሌላ ሰው በፍጥነት ማስተማርና መተካት ይቻላል።

ሁለተኛው ነገር ደግሞ ለሶስት ወር እነዚህ ውጣቶች ያለምንም ክፍያ ልምድ መስጠት ነው በፋብሪካው በነፃ እያገለገሉ ። ከሶስት ወር በኋላ ካምፓኒው አይቶ ሊቀጥራቸው ይችላል። እንጂ እንዴት ነው በአንድ ወረቅት ብቻ የተማሪውን ችሎታ ማየት የሚቻለው ። ይሂዱ ካምፓኒ ውስጥ ልምድ ይቅስሙ ከዚያ ደግሞ እድላቸውን ያያሉ ማለት ነው።

ሶስተኛው ነገር ደግሞ ይህንን የስራ ልምድ ማካበት ተማሪው ትምህርቱን ሳይጨርስም ሊሆን ስለሚችል የተማሪው ግዜ አይባክንበትም። ካምፓኒው የአቶቢስና የምሳ እየከፈለ ተማሪውን ማስለጠን ይችላል።

there is something that came to my mind, which is competition. In the so called market economy everything is all about competition (survival of the fittest).
a company is driven by a motto of a profit, a business company is not a charity, by its very nature. If it finds the best, then it is in its best interest to hire that best, if not for today, then certainly for tomorrow. A serious business company can't lie back and say, I have all I need. that is not enough, it has to say I should have those I need today and also prepared to have those I may need tomorrow.

If you think graduating from a university will automatically makes you fit for the need of a serious company, then you have already lost. Even those who have been in the job may turn out to be unfit for tomorrow's demands of the market, here the dogma is "keep learning", don't assume that 4 years of staying at the university will equip you with everything you need. The current economic order is based on high geared competitiveness.

Instead of spending your time protesting on the streets for everything under the sun, better go out and gain some practical experience in your field of study, while you can afford, else be sure that you will lose tomorrow.

The country and companys need to develop the culture of internship and the idea of pushing the students to finish their study within a given time frame is no more tenable. Give the student sufficient time to have an opportunity of having gained both theoretical and practical knowledge.

A student can't be a "graduate" within 3 or 4 years, he may need 7, 8 or so years to make him/herself hireable (and hard work), has got theoretical study and practical experience.

The limitted term of finishing their study within 3 - 4 years was meant for the time when the government itself was arranging for their employment opportunities. Now, the government is no more in a position to hire all of those who come out of the universities every year, but they are bound by the conditions that were created under different preconditions.

If the students are thrown out of the university then many of them, specially those from the countryside and which constitute the bulk majority of those students, don't have even a place where to stay for the nights, let alone something more luxurious.

He/she may work the first year without earning anything but will earn something in the second year and can afford to cover some of the expenses of his/her study from his/her own income (if worked hard) and a potential hirer for the future.


Both the employors and the internships have got an incentive to engage in such a scheme.
