After the early morning attack by TPLF special forces, which caught the Northern Command by complete shock, as days earlier, the Northern Command was aiding Tegaru farmers with the locust infestation and harvesting of crops, many NC members fled into Eritrea to regroup. A lot of their wounded comrades were brought along. Those wounded Federal Troops are being treated in Teseney and Barentu regional hospitals in Eritrea. Federal Troops shared some horrific stories of the intial attack, saying many of their comrades were killed in their sleep. They suspect Tigrayan members of the Northern Command tipped off TPLF special forces of their positions and routines.
