Had he gone to Afar to investigate in July and early part of August he could have averted the disaster or reduced it by 70% of total distraction. It was simple two ways they could have done, one is to spray in Afar regions while the locusts were on the ground. Second, Tigray could use emergency call all youths to deploy in Afar and change the flight direction towards east and Amhara regions. If it was for the first time after over 50 years, understood you do not expect but last year we had the same problem from the same direction locusts came to Tigray. Still Tigray must get ready for next year, they will show up since they hatched eggs for next year. The Horn of Africa countries must coordinate and study where the origin is and spay it to make sure they do not exist in the area where they came from.
