I admire the wello people. For instance the singer is applying arabic words such as ABSHIR or MERHABA etc..
I know wellos live in harmony and religion is the last they think about. They don't give a rat' asz about religion and they have to be commended for that.
The wello muslims hardly know about islam or christian. A wello guy is a muslim this year and a christian the next year and vice versa.
Let me share with you an authentic story:
An elderly eri who owned a shop and who was living in dessie during the sillassie period told us the following:
Quoting him....
In one early morning of 1970 (forgot the month and date) I was listening to BBC and the BBC reported the death of Jemal Abdul nasser (the egyptian dictator then), I was his fan and I was unable to control my tears. While I was weeping, a muslim welloye lady showed up. She looked at me shocked and asked:
She: Wiy gashe min...honu?
Me: jemal abdul nassir mote
She: wiy inien yigdelegn..wiy...wiy..she was loud (of course she has no clue who abdul nassir was) but she was loud.
In order to console her I said:
Inkwan abdul nassir the nebi prophet mohammed had passed away.
She: surprised....nebi mohamed motu inde? And kept crying but louder.
I gave up and closed the shop in early morning and went home while I was scared because during that period of time, abdul nassir's and sillassie's regimes were not in good terms.
Finally, I hope this elderly eritrean didn't lie to us.
