The revelation by the winner of the "gambling" and the unmasking of the new administration’s politics

Ever since TPLF retreated to Meqelle and the power shifted to ODP, Ethiopian politics seemed to change for the better. The euphoric acceptance of the new PM by the overwhelming majority of the country and his dazzling speech seemed to herald the dawn of a new epoch for Ethiopians. When the first assassination was attempted on the PM back in June of 2018 by TPLF/OLF disgruntled maniacs, some innocent citizens paid in blood and lost limbs. The victims said…they were so relieved that it was them who got hurt …they were so happy that the new PM was never scratched by the blasts.

I never thought in my wildest imagination that ODP would resort to the continuation of the kind of raw ethnic domination that was nakedly practiced by TPLF for close to three decades, and brought its downfall. We all expected, if the TPLF fascists are out, equality, justice and democracy would only be the replacement. I am sad that the fear I have had for the longest is now become a nightmare, the guarded optimism is now giving way for despondence and desperation. I despair not because the gamblers are winning, but the brutal betrayal by the armature politicians, the blatant obliteration of our trust, the ease they soiled our collective hope for the bright future of our country.

Beyond the continuous barbaric killings of civilians and the reluctance of the government in restoring order, lie the intentions of ethnic domination and expropriation of the country’s meager resources by those who control the levers of power. If politicians of the highest office holders say things of this magnitude with such an ease, and get such huge applauding audience, I am afraid we are only transitioning to a more protracted political order the outcome of which will only be lose-lose proposition for all of us. We all need to assess the realities on the ground and confront the unpleasant conundrum we found ourselves in. The stench of weaponized identity would only be neutralized if we are to be real to our consciousness and mount responses that are commensurate with the threat. Exonerating gamblers and deflecting their sins will eventually cost us the country itself. enough is enough!!
