Re: Joke of the Year!
TPLF is bored with Planet Hotel and the backwater kilil that is Tigray. They want to get back to Addis. They miss the nightlife of Addis. But they are criminals wanted by the people of Ethiopia. So they can’t get back to Addis. They are bored in Tigray. They don’t know what to do.

Re: Joke of the Year!
Of course, they become bored. Addis is an interesting and vibrant city. To live in Addis is to fall in love with Addis. I know that because I was born and raised in Addis. As soon as I started high school, I was introduced to student movement. Teferi Mekonen high school was the microcosm of the city itself. Students from different ethnic group, religion, social background and class come to the same school, but we all believe in what matters most we all are the same : we are Ethiopians.
Yes, that city went through heart attack in 1991. Politicians who speak different political language than Addis Abebans accustomed to conquered the city. But life was not the same since then. Addis Abebans however did not surrender to the politics of the invaders. They wanted to kick them out, but they had no opportunity. The opportunity they sought came in to being in 2005. They voted unanimously to drive tribal politicians out of their city. The tribal politicians retaliated. They killed hundreds of young Addis Abebeans. And imprisoned thousands more.
Addis Abebeans lived in mourning for the next thirteen years.
Almost two years ago Addis Abebans sensed a new hope. A politician who speaks the political language of Ethiopia became a prime minister. Those who hate that political language fled to Mekele.
Addis Abebans are breathing fine now. The city is growing, becoming more clean, and keeping attracting Ethiopians from all corner. By far Addis is a city a magnet that draws Ethiopians to her. Yes, those who quarantined themselves in Mekele desperately want to live in Addis. But their geographical sense of Addis is screwed up. Unlike Addis Abebeans they believe living in Aratkilo palace is the most important part of being an Addis Abebean. Addis Abebans disagree.
