Ato Fisseha Tekle is said to have been the focus of intense scrutiny for allegedly issuing a report with half baked truth. The accusation stems from Ato Fisseha's omission of facts and misleading descriptions of human right violations in Oromia and Amhara Regions. As some observers say, the report has completely ignored the abuses and killings that have occurred in Afar, South, Gambella, Benshangul, Tigrai and Harari. The main focus of the report unusually coincides with the areas where extremists of TPLF and OLF are trying to create a narrative accusing the Government of wrong doings than the totality of human right situation in the country.

The main omissions, to mention a few, include : the massacre of 86 individuals by supporters of Jawar Mohammed, the abduction and disappearance of dozens of university students of Amhara Origin by OLF-Shane, the massacre of Christians in Harar while celebrating TimQet, the burning of churches and Mosques by TPLF/OLF supporters, the uprooting and massacre of individuals in Benshangul, the killings of Benshangul leaders in Kamashe Zone by OLF-Shane, the multiple gruesome killings in WolQait and Raya by TPLF security forces, the daily murder being committed by the group that calls itself Aba-torbe...etc,

Ato Fisseha is now in a campaign to justify his report to get acceptance by the international community and get the confidence of his bosses who are said to have started reviewing the report after numerous complaints have surfaced from all directions. Ato Fisseha was known for his measured reporting while the TPLF led regime was at the helm for the past 27 years.Some People imply that his ethnic affiliation to TPLF might have influenced his reporting and, others accuse him of working for TPLF using the Amnesty platform to promote agenda.
