1. First they disarmed the argument around the ትግራይ እስክትለማ ኢቶጵያ ትድማ project. So no Ethiopian speaks anymore about this
2. Once they disarmed that argument, they started boasting about how they developed Tigrai (while people like Awelu were robbing the Oromo people)

It is a one-two strategy
First you disarm the obvious and absolve yourself of the crime, and then once you got your back free, you boast about the crime as if it was honest legitimate achievement.
