‘Too Much Money’: Tiffany Haddish Explains Why a Sequel to ‘Girls Trip’ Hasn’t Happened Yet

The sequel to the 2017 film “Girls Trip” seems to have hit a snag. Actress Tiffany Haddish http://atlantablackstar.com/tag/tiffany-haddish/ — one of the movie’s co-stars — shed light on the possibility of a sequel and its delay during an interview with HuffPost.

It was like, ‘Oh, you guys want too much money,’

said Haddish, who co-starred in the movie with Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah and Regina Hall.

We might decide not to even make it ‘Girls Trip.’ Maybe we’ll do a different story just in case no one wants to make ‘Girls Trip 2.’

“Girls Trip,” which made for a breakout role for Haddish, passed the $100 million mark in ticket sales in just two months at the U.S. box office.

Last year, a representative for Universal spoke about a sequel as well and said things were at a standstill.

There was no script submitted for a ‘Girls Trip’ sequel, and no film is currently in development,

said the rep.

One of Haddish’s handlers also issued a statement in 2019, after the comedian said that she’d written a script for “Girls Trip” part two herself. It was something that Haddish talked about at a comedy event after a fan asked her about the movie.

While she would love to make that movie one day, she has not written or participated in writing any script, so there was nothing for the studio to pass on. I can’t stress enough that she was kidding,

said Haddish’s spokesperson.

Last year, Latifah also spoke about the chances of a “Girls Trip” sequel hitting theaters and said it was all about the script being completed.

“We are all in for ‘Girls Trip 2,’” Latifah told People.

We’re just waiting for a script to be honest. Tiffany called me like two weeks ago like, ‘I know me and you and Jada and Regina get in the room, we can write this script.’ She’s talking like she doesn’t have a job. But we really want to make it happen as soon as possible.
