I believe it occurred in Bati, a land that is claimed by oromos, amaras, and afars, [but is within amara state] so there's conflicts there unfortunately every now and then. afar and amaras fought there a few years ago i remember.
but in general, oromos and afars are brothers and sisters.

Are you sure it is within Amara Kilil?The Afars said the Oromia liyu came 16 kms deep into Afar kilil, and that is where the killings took place. The conflict may expand now as the Oromos wanted to bury their dead in the afar land they are claiming, and after Afars refused them burial, they walked out of the meeting angrily and told the Afars that they will come back with bigger force and do what they want. Meanwhile the Afar-Isa running battle of the desert is still going on for a 2nd day in a row. What a bloody country, how on Earth are these people going to be living in one country, I really do not know why and when Oromia will declare freedom, making it easier for the smaller ethnics to set themselves free from Ethiopian bondage.

bati? yes, last i checked it is. as far as this particular conflict, I see no benefit to be derived from invading what's mostly arid land, when oromos are settled farmers/agriculturists. It just doesn't make sense for us to covet their lands, at all.
personally, I do not think breaking the country apart would make things better. if anything, things would be worse. because the borders are not agreed upon. you'd have oromos fighting amaras, amaras fighting tigrayans, oromos vs somalis, afars vs somalis, and much more.
it'd make somalia look like a walk in the park.
so the lesser evil would be, keeping ethiopia intact, but working on some kind of win-win compromise [which is easier said, than done].

I can't imagine Ethiopians living together in one country yet again. Tigray is done with that sh'it'hole country.
