Raya have nothing to do with Sokota. The Sokota are wild. The Raya in Raya Azebo and Raya Qobo are more gentle and civilized. Raya was a province in 15th Century Ethiopia. The Raya have been resisting central power. I think King Bede Mariam succeeded to subdue the rebellious Raya.
Raya is a cultural community, not an ethnic group. It is not [deleted] like the Erob or Kunama, who also reside within Tigray. Raya refers to the cultural area inhabited by a diverse group of people located south of the historic province of Enderta and North of Weldia.
Thus Raya is not Lasta or Sokota.
